Magical Felt Bowls

Description

Join Gika Rector to spend a day making two magical felt bowls. Wrapping luscious wool fibers around different size rubber balls, participants will create two felt vessels, perfect for storing small treasures. The process involves soap, water, and fun. No talent required. Bring your curiosity and perhaps an apron.

This live-streamed program can be taken from home or anywhere with an internet connection. After you register, you will be e-mailed viewing instructions either the evening before or the morning of the event.

Instructor

Gika Rector has been a fiber artist for more than 20 years. She combines creativity, her education in psychology, and her role as a personal coach and Feldenkrais practitioner to facilitate transformation in individuals and organizations.

Tuition

$78 ($68 for Jung Center members)

Tuition includes materials. Materials can be picked up at The Jung Center bookstore.

For those outside of the Houston area, after you register, please use the Mailed Materials Request Form to request that materials be shipped to you. There will be an additional fee of $10 for this service. Please register and complete the form no later than September 14.

Description

Join Lisa Rose and Gika Rector to spend a morning making magical felt mini bowls. They’re just the right size to hold stitch markers, tapestry needles, rings, earrings—small treasures. Embellished with a row of beads, and to top it all off, make a coordinating beaded row counter for your knitting.

Fee: $45 including supplies

Lisa Rose is an accomplished fiber artist based in Spring. She began crocheting at her grandmother’s knee at the age of six. With a love for all natural fibers, she spins, weaves, knits, and felts and creates one-of-a-kind pieces for the body and the home.

Gika Rector has been a fiber artist for more than 20 years. She combines creativity, her education in psychology, and her role as a personal coach and Feldenkrais practitioner to facilitate transformation in individuals and organizations.

Journal Making

Description

Felt journal making is a great way to tap into our creativity. Come learn to combine richly colored wool fibers into a journal cover, select journal papers, bind your journal, and, of course, use your new journal to explore fresh ideas and pathways. All materials will be provided, and all experience levels are welcome. Just bring your curiosity and willingness to play—and perhaps your favorite pen.
