Description
Moving Forward: Breathing Room is all about taking in fresh air, making a clean start, creating a great new year. This three-session workshop series uses breath as a metaphor and as a physical experience for exploring how we make space for ourselves and for what’s important to us.
January 11
Session 1 – Breathe Out:
Make room for the new as you release old tensions, stories, and habits that offer too many constraints and not enough freedom.
January 18
Session 2 – Breathe In:
As you expand your rib cage in the physical sense you can also make space for new ideas, fresh perspectives, and renewed energy.
January 25
Session 3 – The Spaces In Between:
There’s a moment’s pause between the inhale and the exhale-a perfect place to explore the restoration and renewal possible in unlikely spaces.
Each session in the series offers games, movement, and quiet time for individual reflection. You’ll find personal insight and benefit from the wisdom and experience of the people around you.
Fee
Early bird price per session $25, $30 after January 6
Early bird price for all THREE sessions $60, $75 after January 6

What if we could let go of holiday stress? What if all our unrealistic expectations for the “perfect season” could be transformed into a spirit of celebration that truly expresses who we are and what we value?
Date and time
Saturday, November 12, 2011
10 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
Description
Felt Great for the Holidays is an unconventional workshop that starts with a deceptively simple creative act: you’ll craft one or more felt ornaments or small vessels by wrapping wool around a 3″ plastic ball. Color, texture, soap, and water create an environment of festivity and fun within which we’ll explore anxiety and anticipation, creativity and celebration, fellowship and transformation, improvisation and surprise.
No experience is necessary for this workshop. Just bring a towel, a plastic bag, and your curiosity. …more

Description
Join artist Gika Rector for this introduction to the magical process of making nuno felt. It is an amazingly light fabric made by felting a bit of wool into a loosely woven natural fiber fabric. Perfect for our southern climate, nuno felt has exciting possibilities for creating custom fabrics. The underlying woven fabric adds strength and drapability while the wool/felt adds texture, color, and endless design possibilities.
Materials: This felting technique uses water, so please bring a towel.
Level: Beginner—no knitting involved!
