Join Gika Rector for this gentle exploration of setting your tempo—physically and metaphorically. This two-hour workshop focuses on fun and easy ways to move your body and your life. What might be possible if you could set your own pace, sometimes slow and lazy, sometimes fast and powerful?

Standing FeetFeeling stuck? Having a hard time moving your body, much less moving your life? How are your feet? Tired, sore, achey? Do you find yourself looking for the perfect pair of shoes—no matter how ugly—to get you through the day without hurting?

Join Gika Rector for this gentle exploration of standing and moving forward-physically and metaphorically. This two hour workshop focuses on the feet as both a metaphor and as a physical experience to explore how we find stability, balance, and movement in our bodies and in our lives. The workshop will include group interactions/conversations, quiet time for individual reflection and a specially selected Awareness Through Movement® lesson.

Please wear comfortable clothing that doesn’t restrict your movement.

Ongoing Class: Bones for Life

Description


Bones for Life (BFL)
is a program based on the premise that bone strength is stimulated through natural movement and weight-bearing posture. It was developed by Ruthy Alon, and is based on Moshe Feldenkrais’ teachings for the re-education of movement habits.

Bones for Life training teaches you safe, non-jarring exercises, through gentle, springy, weight-bearing motions. It helps to stimulate bone health, improves skeletal alignment, improves posture, and balance. It teaches you your natural movement.

“Natural movement, which resonates through every part of the body, integrates them all into graceful harmony. It organizes the body both for stability and flexibility. It inspires trust in the bones as well as in the freedom of the joints. The joy which emerges in performing vigorous movements with ease and success is a constant companion to the dynamic activity. lessons give your movements not only strength, but also ease and grace. As a black belt in Judo, an athlete and a scientist, Moshe Feldenkrais (founder of the Feldenkrais Method®) understood how to develop strength, efficiency and elegance in human movement. Bringing attention to how we organize our movements, we can move with greater strength and power-and with less pain and effort. Classes are suitable for almost all fitness levels. Willingness to lie on the floor, and an interest in moving more easily are really about all you need.
