Stepping In—A Mini Workshop

Date and time

Saturday, May 3, 2014
3:30–5:30 p.m.

Description

What are you stepping into? Away from? What would you like to step toward?

Walk on BeachCambrey and Gika invite you to a sensory based experience steeped in Feldenkrais, Nia and Creativity. Leaving your daily distractions behind, explore your feet as the foundation of movement. Try “Stepping In”, the second cycle of the Nia Technique, not only physically, but also as a metaphor for where you are versus where you would like to be. Be prepared to step back into life refreshed and invigorated—making new connections physically, emotionally, in your mind and in your spirit.

Description

Happy Feet! Boxed up in shoes for way too long, could your feet use a little TLC?feet

Join Gika Rector for this three week series of Awareness Through Movement® lessons and reach into the New Year with strength and grace—literally and metaphorically. Beginning with gentle, guided movements you’ll find more strength and power in your feet and legs than you might have thought possible.

It seems counterintuitive in our hard-working culture that the easy way might be better, but in this case it really works. As a black belt in Judo, an athlete and a scientist, Moshe Feldenkrais (founder of the Feldenkrais Method®) understood how to develop strength, efficiency and elegance in human movement.

Awareness Through Movement® lessons help you slow down and notice how your body gets things done. Bringing mindfulness to your movements, you will build strength, greater range of motion, and better balance. As Feldenkrais said, you will “Make the impossible possible, the possible easy, and the easy graceful.”

Classes are suitable for almost all fitness levels. Willingness to lie on the floor, and an interest in moving more easily are really about all you need.

Fee

– Three session series: $45 early bird pay online, $55 after.

– Single sessions: $20 online or at the door.

– You are encouraged to commit to all 3 sessions to receive the biggest benefit.
