The Pelvic Basin—An Exploration of Holding and Letting Go

Date and time

Saturday, June 21, 2014
3:00–5:30 p.m.

Description

What are you holding on to?
What can you let go of?

The pelvic basin is a wondrous container for the flow of life. The muscles that run through the pelvis not only support vital organs, but they also direct functional movement—standing, walking, digestion, elimination, reproduction, breathing.purple_twirl

Cambrey and Gika invite you to a sensory based experience steeped in Feldenkrais, Nia and Creativity. Leaving your daily distractions behind, explore your pelvis as the foundation of movement. Experience the pelvis as a metaphor for the things you hold and the things you let go of—physically, emotionally and creatively.

Cambrey Lindsay, MA , LPC is a Nia Brown Belt Certified Trance Dance Facilitator and Shamanic energy healer. Her interest in psycho-‐spiritual practices and Source healing has provided the tools for energetically clearing somatic imbalances, emotional conflict, and improving holistic well-‐being. Description

Twists and Turns—Remember when twisting and turning was easy? What if you could bring that ease and grace back into your everyday movements?twirl

Join Gika Rector for this three week series of Awareness Through Movement® lessons and reach into summer with a few new twists and turns, physically and metaphorically. Who knows what might lie around the next corner!

It seems counterintuitive in our hard-working culture that the easy way might be better, but in this case it really works. As a black belt in Judo, an athlete and a scientist, Moshe Feldenkrais (founder of the Feldenkrais Method®) understood how to develop strength, efficiency and elegance in human movement.

Awareness Through Movement® lessons help you slow down and notice how your body gets things done. Bringing mindfulness to your movements, you will build strength, greater range of motion, and better balance. As Feldenkrais said, you will “Make the impossible possible, the possible easy, and the easy graceful.”

Classes are suitable for almost all fitness levels. Willingness to lie on the floor, and an interest in moving more easily are really about all you need.

Fee

– Three session series: $45 early bird pay, $55 after.

– Single sessions: $20 online or at the door.

– You are encouraged to commit to all 3 sessions to receive the biggest benefit.
